Every step on a stepper motor usually move it 1.8 degree , so one turn (360 deg.divided by 1.8 = 200steps per turn)2000steps if your using 10 microsteps driver.
The step per is how many steps for one unit of measure, either inch or millimeter whatever you working with.
The lead screw diameter 3/8 is not needed, the screw lead (how much it move your axis in one turn is what is needed to find out the step per.
if you have a 5 turn per inch screw and your using 10 microsteps your step per should be 2000 steps per turn X 5 turns per inch =10,000 step per inch
    good luck
p.s.there is good videos on youtubes that might help

Some driver boards have selectable microsteps (usually a serie of switches to select) some like gecko use 10 microsteps on all their boards.
check the documentation for your driver.
Are you on the building or planning stage?
