Brief history, last week AJV32 machine stopped working and ended up with an "NC Alarm" led on main panel but no alarm numbers listed and the PD21b power supply was only at 14v-7v, but none of the cards had any red leds lit. The spindle drive was not on.
After talking to Mazak, we decided to swap spindle drives from another machine(AJV35).
The machine came up without any alarms on the main panel. It zero'd out fine, but when spindle went to orient for tool change it just sits and spins and eventually times out and displays a 242 spindle orient time out alarm.
Again, talking to Mazak the said to check the magnetic sensor and /or preamp. The problem is there is they are not there.
Mazak book shows a rough spot on spindle where amplifier should be but its nowhere to be found nor is there any magnetic sensor. The machine the spindle drive was taken out of, does have a mag sensor and preamp.
So the question is, how is this machine supposed to find orient position? Is there an encoder somewhere?
This is really getting annoying after a week.
Any ideas?

Oh yah, the PD21b is still showing lower voltage.
