    BOSS DX32 Gurus [F5] Preview

My struggle continues to learn this control, the Manuals are very inadequate for my needs.
Today, my question is regarding the [F5] "Preview" screen. The Manual states that this feature "Provides a graphic display of the part program", that's it, nothing else, that I can find.

Here is a sample problem: To Drill a hole in the center of cube.
    1. Draw a 1" square cube
    2. Use the center of the cube as program zero
    3. What is the view size?

    View Size
    Min. Max.
    X X
    Y Y
    Z Z

Using the same 1" square cube, Drill a hole .25 from the left end and .25 from the front face.

    View Size
    Min. Max.
    X X
    Y Y
    Z Z

If my question isn't framed properly, any information on this "Preview" function would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!

I believe all Preview will show is tool motion....no geometry and because of the limited capacity of Dx32 BMDC board anything bigger than 250k won't process It's pretty basic but it's Ok for short programs

Thanks for your reply. What is the theory behind setting the "View Size" on the "Preview" screen? In other words, how do you determine the "X", "Y", "Z", "Min.", Max. coordinates?

    Regards,

    Bob

that would just be the "window" needed to enclose your toolpaths for instance if you programmed a contour x+3,Y-2,X-3 Y+2 you would need around a 4"x4" grid and I think you may need to tell it and approximate location

I'll try and remember to look tomorrow

Thanks again for your help. What type of machine are you running? I will study that feature again tomorrow and let you know what I find.

760-22 not sure what year ....bought it used about a year ago I,ve had to put some parts in it but it's been ok
Mostly program it with Mastercam but I think if I took time to learn them the canned cycles would be ok too for small jobs
