Where can i find metal lathe spare parts in brisbane?

    Gday,
i am starting to build a cnc lathe. most of it will be scratch built (because i want to) but i want a collet spindle and a couple of other things (don't know yet, but once i am started i'm sure i'll think of something). anyhow, does anyone in australia (preferably Brisbane) know where i can salvage lathe parts for my own personal use?

any help would be very much appreciated!

Try Hare & Forbes 07 3274 4222. They also have branches in Melb and Syd.

    Or ... Emco 02 9648 4377

Or ... purchase Australian Model Engineering from your newsagent and place an ad. in that magazine

    Good luck

No such luck! looks like i'll be making the spindle my self. at least i'll be able to determine the spindle bore myself.

Have you seen the Dave Gingery books? He has a set of plans for scratch building your own machines (manual machines, that is!) He also suggests casting your own pieces.

I've heard you can yank the spindle out of a 5C spin indexer for this. Depends on the size of the lathe you want...

    Rhino,

You could try Minitech, they are in Brendale.
