what speeds are people running there rf-45 ect with, using vfd ans standard gearbox. @50hz in top gear its 1600 rpm. @ 400hz that equates to 12,800. im programing the vfd now awaiting the drive and was interested to see what others are getting.

Is your motor even capable of 400hz?
I run mine @ 60hz since that is the max freq listed on the motor specs. This particular motor at that freq runs around 4,200 RPM when in top gear. I generally just rely on the gear changes for lower speeds and only lower the freq when I am in the lowest gear for things like coaxial indicators.
Thanks Draczny for the input, I stuck with the 4 pole motor, as @ 50-60 hz its rated at 1.5kw, @ speed's above that torque drops off, and anything above the 1600rpm, is mostly fine cutting, I thought that was better suited for my applications. for any1 wondering @100hz it runs at 3200 rpm at the spindle in high-high and that's as much as i would ever like to run the gearbox, even at that the oil starts to froth up slightly. The motor is running @ 2 pole speed. an as for the 400hz the vfd is capable, but the motor definitely not.
