Hello to all,
I am new here to cnc zone and I can't wait to utililize all of the info on here.
I have two 2000 Hardinge VMC1000 II's (with fanuc OMD controls) that I have had for about 3 years now. I am drip feeding all my programs now via RS232. All my programs are complex 3d surfacing programs (Molds, and patterns), so my programs are around 50mb to 250mb in size. One program might run for 50 hours with 10 different tools. I am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the memory on the machine and add ethernet/hdd or what my best option would be. The machine is just way to slow when running such complex programs via rs232. I am buying a 1998 milltronics that has a 256mb compact flash for hard drive and 256mb of ram, on this machine I will be able load my large programs via ethernet to the hardrive and run from the controller without drip feeding. I would like to do the same with my hardinges if it is possible. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!!!
