    toolchange alarm

    Hi All,I'm having a toolchanger problem on a HAAS VF-E . On start-up after
homing all axis, the tool changer inserts T01 in spindle then retracts a small distance and shows an alarm ( #114 shuttle out fault ) Air pressure is 100 psi.
    Any ideas,suggestions?

The first thing to check are the microswitches that detect the shuttle in and out positions. One of them may be not working correctly.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

As Geof says, it is probably a switch for the shuttle in/out. When it alarms out, cut the power to the machine and put some light oil on the switches and work them in and out a bunch of times. Then try to power up again.

They do get coolant on them and get sticky.

I've also seen the shuttle in/out relay contacts get "sticky" with built up carbon. You can pop the cover off and use a diamond file to clean up the contacts enough to get it working again.

Ha Ha, I sure remember doing that! Good to keep a spare around.
