    Taig advancing in X & Y axis

Hi. I've searched around first, but couldn't find an answer.
The mill is advancing about .01" in X- & Y- in about 1k lines of code.
    I'm running Mach3 R1.84.000, 8 IPM. Xylotex drive & 269 oz in steppers, 1/8 step.
    Taig is 2019CR-ER.
I followed the directions on: http://www.cartertools.com/nutback.html so B/L should be fine,
I've checked w/ an MDI also, as in Mach manual (50x back & forth)
I set the nuts so I they were tight, but I can hand turn ok.
The gibs are good, I've done a lot of reading on how to set this thingy up.
I'm also not clear if I can set the B/L to a pos / neg in Mach.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Shawn.

It sounds like your steps/unit settings

are a little off. In Mach3, you set those in the Motor Tuning dialogue. Try reducing the steps a little, and see how it responds after doing the test you describe below. Do this without using any anti-backlash routines; they will just confuse the issue at this point. If you're seeing a steady advance, then it's almost certainly the steps/unit. If it's backlash, it will stay within that margin of inaccuracy, and seem to disappear at times only to reappear at other times, depending on what side of the threads you are on.

OK, I'll try that again. tried it once before, but too radically. I'm not using any BL settings now anyway.
I just don't understand why it would advance in one direction only.
