Spindle winding up whenever parallel connection is made?

Hello. I just replaced my old cnc with a bit larger 2' x 3' Camwood WR203. It was working fine but I decided to let the computer that came with the new router go with the old cnc when I sold it. I saved all the files including the xml files. I downloaded everything to a new computer but now whenever I plug the the cable into the parallel port the spindle winds up to full speed...even with the computer off! I'm not very familiar with which pin starts the spindle but it seems odd it would start up even with the computer unplugged? The old computer was running XP and the new computer is Windows 7. At first I thought somehow the relay on the breakout board was the problem but it remains open when the cable is not connected to the computer. Completely confused, any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks newbie.

For one, you should have a hard wired E-stop circuit in place where the machine has to be Taken out of e-stop via a start P.B. to energize the spindle and servo's main power and any other motors, also the charge pump should be part of this string.
What form/type of spindle is it and how is the spindle started?

Could your hi low settings in serial port need to be reciprocated? I have a PWM speed controller that is polarity protected so 0 is on and 5 is off.

Al. The spindle is a 2 hp water cooled iso 20 quick change collet and it's controlled by a delta vfd. I have a E-stop button and will check to see if I have a contact block laying around tonight and get it wired in. May need to upgrade breakout board to one with a charge pump circuit.
