'Looking for advice and opinions about which is the "best" style of single point threading inserts. Things like the following all probably vary between the styles available.

1. Variety and quantity of sizes / pitches threads cut

2. Cost / Availability / points per insert.

3. Variety of internal and external holder.

4. Strength and life of the point.

when it comes to threading ,I prefer to use use top notch inserts ,they are simple to use,very rigid and it provides good finish, and with the right feeds and speeds you can go for many pieces without insert changes.
one of the things I like obout top notch threading holders is that you reduce inventory by not having to buy grooving tools were you can use the same holder for threading and grooving.
you have olso multiple sizes for different pitches.
I am sure every machinist have their own preferences.I tried to get what ever gets the job done and will not sacrifice quality over price ;for me Kennametal works and they deliver they have different tool sizes wheter you chase O.D or I.D threads the importance of a solid set up is allways number one priority.
