    THB6064H(4.5A)-Stepping Motor Driver IC 4.5amp

    hi
The THB6064H is a PWM chopper-type sinusoidal micro-step bipolar stepping motor driver IC.
It supports 8 kind of excitation modes and forward/reverse mode and is capable of low-vibration, high-performance drive of 2-phase bipolar type stepping motors using only a clock signal.

    Features
    • Single-chip bipolar sinusoidal micro-step stepping motor driver
    Weight: HZIP25-P-1.27: 9.86 g (typ.)
    • Uses high withstand voltage BiCD process: Ron (upper  lower) = 0.4 (typ.)
    • Forward and reverse rotation control available
    • Selectable phase drive (1/2,1/8,1/10, 1/16, 1/20, 1/32, 1/40, 1/64 step)
    • High output withstand voltage: VDSS = 50 V
    • High output current: IOUT = 4.5 A (peak)
    • Packages: HZIP25-P-1.27
    • Output monitor pins (DOWN / ALERT)
    • Equipped with reset and enable pins
    • Built-in thermal shutdown(TSD) and over-current detection(ISD) circuit

*: Since this product has a MOS structure, it is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. These ICs are highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge. When handling them, please be careful of electrostatic discharge, temperature and humidity conditions.

    I'll try to explain:

The THB6064AH is a custom version made by Toshiba for 北京海华博远科 发展有限公司

There are 2 people offering DIY designs using this chip with part kits on this forum:
1: James Newton: THB6064AH 4AMP Stepper Motor Driver Kit. massmind
More details in this thread on CNCzone:
    http://www.cnczone.com/forums/open_s...ing_motor.html

    2: Me: http://users.skynet.be/ldt/CNC%20ele...THB6064AH.html

More info in this thread: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/open_s...cb_design.html

There are 3 models in total, I would suggest to have a look at them and ask more specific questions in the approriate forums mentioned above.

    Hope this clarifies the situation.

    Luc.

PS: for the TB6560: I'll reply in that thread.

    i see

im a beginning adventurer in stepper motors and machinery ...

so far i have blown 4 small drivers ... and it is interesting the amount of tinkering you have to do to "customize" the elctronics to the motors ... esp the mismatches in microsteps ... i dont see much of a VR pot in any schematics that tries to allow circuit to adjust to motor variances. do you guys do that?

Yes, the current adjust potentiometer is visable in the pictures here:
THB6064AH 4AMP Stepper Motor Driver Kit. massmind
it is the small blue square on the right side.

    But if you are just getting started, and you are learning by frying drivers (which is a good way to learn) then I would suggest you try the Linistepper instead;
RULMS2:LiniStepper Smooth StepperMotor Control kit massmind
because it can be repaired for about $5 and it's lower power and linear drive means there is less chance of burning something up. It still provides significant power (up to about 75Watts) and is more than enough for most applications.

why do you think that this IC it's made by Toshiba ?

    http://www.bjbyds.com.cn/En_ShowPro.asp?id=144

The logo from IC doesn't seems to belong to Toshiba - probably it's made (or rebranded ?) by a chinese company. On above site it seems to have more options.

You are so kind, I can load many documents about stepper motor driver IC from this website.

    Thanks a lot.

This forum is so useful for me.

At what quantity? And what are the shipping costs?

So.... this is a single, small, Chinese company which has produced a chip like the TB6560, but with some extra features, and are selling it directly... it is NOT available from distribution, only direct? And the company is one we have never heard of? And no one has tried this driver or the chip?

This is very scary. high risk/reward curve. Bleeding edge, where you bleed. Anyone willing to take a chance on it?
