    THB6064H(4.5A)-Stepping Motor Driver IC 4.5amp

    hi
The THB6064H is a PWM chopper-type sinusoidal micro-step bipolar stepping motor driver IC.
It supports 8 kind of excitation modes and forward/reverse mode and is capable of low-vibration, high-performance drive of 2-phase bipolar type stepping motors using only a clock signal.

    Features
    • Single-chip bipolar sinusoidal micro-step stepping motor driver
    Weight: HZIP25-P-1.27: 9.86 g (typ.)
    • Uses high withstand voltage BiCD process: Ron (upper  lower) = 0.4 (typ.)
    • Forward and reverse rotation control available
    • Selectable phase drive (1/2,1/8,1/10, 1/16, 1/20, 1/32, 1/40, 1/64 step)
    • High output withstand voltage: VDSS = 50 V
    • High output current: IOUT = 4.5 A (peak)
    • Packages: HZIP25-P-1.27
    • Output monitor pins (DOWN / ALERT)
    • Equipped with reset and enable pins
    • Built-in thermal shutdown(TSD) and over-current detection(ISD) circuit

*: Since this product has a MOS structure, it is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. These ICs are highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge. When handling them, please be careful of electrostatic discharge, temperature and humidity conditions.

why do you think that this IC it's made by Toshiba ?

    http://www.bjbyds.com.cn/En_ShowPro.asp?id=144

The logo from IC doesn't seems to belong to Toshiba - probably it's made (or rebranded ?) by a chinese company. On above site it seems to have more options.

At what quantity? And what are the shipping costs?

So.... this is a single, small, Chinese company which has produced a chip like the TB6560, but with some extra features, and are selling it directly... it is NOT available from distribution, only direct? And the company is one we have never heard of? And no one has tried this driver or the chip?

This is very scary. high risk/reward curve. Bleeding edge, where you bleed. Anyone willing to take a chance on it?

    James Newton:
I will try my best to answer all your queries:
THB6064 is a new type chip from Beijing Haihua Boyuan Science Technology and Development Co.,Ltd., which is customized product designed and produced by TOSHIBA Semiconductor Company. In TOSHIBA company, it has an internal model (TB6564AHQ), so you can’t find any documents about THB6064AH.However, you can find the announcement about THB series chip by TOSHIBA Semiconductor Co.Ltd.

THB6064AH offers simple peripheral circuit, more selectable phase excitation, high output current and high driver voltage, as TB6560. Its excellent performance is a quantum leap ahead of TA8435 AND TB6560HQ.Therefore, it is an updated product. Through Vref circuit, you can adjust the multi-groups driver current. When there is no impulse to input, DOWN will output the low level. Connect external resistor to reduce the Vref voltage. At the same time, the operation current of static motor was reduced. Through FDT terminal, you can set the decay mode (Fast-decay mode; Slow-decay mode; Mixed-decay mode). Through UVLO detection, you can adjust the supply voltage Vc of the logic circuit .If Vc below3.9V, close the output; if Vc above 4.0V, the protective function will be on. You can design a circuit easily to protect the driver by overheating and over current detection.

Yeah, it looks like a great chip, its just a trust issue. And that is a serious problem. Do you have a sample program? Has anyone in the USA tested it?
