You need to locate the button for moving the w axis with the pulse handle. It will allow you to move the axis off of the Stroke end limit. (manually move it, reset stroke cancel switch, reset on control panel) Once that is complete, you will need to (most likely) re-teach the W-axis position. If you had the W-axis Zero point at the face of you part in the main spindle, line it back up to that point, and check your W position to see how much it is off. Next go to your system parameters, find the PR ZERO OFFSET for the W-axis and change it by the amount you are off. (good idea to write the current number down first) Once you change the number, you will get an alarm (power on effective parameter set) and will need to reboot the control. At that time the W-axis should read 0 again when at the face of the part. If it is off by twice as much as before, you went the wrong way. This procedure will allow you to keep the same Zero set, Stroke end limits, and variable limits as before with NO changes because it shifts the encoder position.

    Best regards,

    The attached pic may help.

Experience is what you get just after you needed it.
