Sheet Metal Miter Not Good Need Help...

    Hi everyone!

I am bending 1/4" aluminum plate, and it needs a pretty good bend radi of .5" here is a pic of my problem, it unfolds ok but the miters are not the best, any ideas of how to make it better? Its the large cut out that is somewhat triangular is this normal?? -Thanks

I would think you need a round hole punched/drilled to cut the shape for your corner while on the flat.

It's called a relief, if you had mat'l in that area from both sides it wouldn't form correctly. The relief's are customizable for size as well as shape..

Right; I was wondering about that, but do you know where to find that info for the relief size and shape? I tried looking and I thought I tried everything. The only thing that came close was to the "close corner" icon BUT it only worked on a "flange" not the "mitered flange" and that is what I have here.

    Thanks

go to "Sheet Metal" in the feature tree , right click and edit feature.. the relief stuff is in there.. if you need to just read up on it in the help menu.. suprisingly.. the help files in SW are pretty helpful [contrary to most Winblows programs..]

You probably want an obround or tear relief instead of sqr.

It is also very easy to "collect the bends", unfold the part and sketch in your own custom relief in whatever shape you want.
As Jerry said, the relief is defined in the bend feature.
