I just stumbled across this posting.
Dallas Craigslist.
PCNC 1100, Series II for sale. Asking $4500.
I would snatch it up, if I had $4500 lying around. (And any more room in my garage) :tired:

This machine would concern me a bit not being able to turn it on and try it out.
If there is anything wrong, the deal is no long a deal, and it turns out to be a headache.
It always worries me when I see pictures of machinery outdoors.
I ask myself "did they move it outdoors for the aesthetics of the picture with trees in the background, or is it being stored outdoors in the rain"?
Bring a generator and a pc, and test it out...

wait a sec, aren't you trying to get rid of the one you have, not collect more?

If you think about it logically, it may have been in a school where is could have seen numerous crashes or accidental abuse. I would think it has more than hobby hours on it and less than production hours. It is 6 or 7 years old. I don't know what Series this would be and how much it would cost to upgrade to the current production class. Just for what it is and it's age, I think it is probably priced a little high when you consider the cost of a new one. Normally when you buy a used mill, you get some tooling with it as well to help offset the cost.
Not the case here.

Haha, yes. But if it was a working machine in decent shape for $5000 I'd be all over it. One are I'll have to buy another machine later this year but I'm looking for an engraving machine with high speed spindle and tool changer. I need 0.0003 or better accuracy and repeatability which means tapered tool holders for embossing stamps. Ran 36 parts while sleeping last night on the HAAS and it took 8 hours... No good on my per part cost. Machine maintance will overcome my profit at that speed. 0.003" engraver... Need 10-15K spindle and high repeatability as well as excellent acceleration /deceleration

It's not engraving it's embossing O1 tool steel. I'm afraid Tormach isn't even close on accuracy or height repeatability and I can't accept the surface finish Tormach leaves on ever part I've ever made.
For reference the font height is 3mm. These are the larger of the letters. Lower case is 2.2-2.5mm.
0.0005" step over & down is a little out of my trust level on a Tormach.

That looks like real 3D work, just with small tools. You could stick an air turbine spindle is your Haas.

I have been a little afraid to use it with tool changes since I have to manually remove the "S0000" call, add M51 to turn it on and M19 to lock the spindle. It's no big deal, but I know eventually I'll forget and wind the cord up and damage... Who knows what.
This one is 60k rpm. Just ran these letters on the mill with it and about to measure and see it the tool survived. Even 60x magnification can't show a broken tip at this size.
I have to write down the length and retouch

Do you guys think this is the same machine?

If so, it looks like we'll probably get to see whether it was a good buy or not.
