    PCNC1100 Series III - 770 Base Casting??

After finally getting my new PCNC1100 home & in the workshop over the weekend, I noticed a bit of an anomaly and I wonder if anyone else can confirm this please?

The base casting looks totally different where the mounting/stand bolting points are, and looks identical in shape (don't know about size..) to the 770 base casting, and needs to be bolted down with 40-50mm long M12 bolts, rather than the M12 x 130mm studs supplied. The shape and size of the casting are physically quite different to all the literature.

Are all 1100 Series III bases like this????

Confirmed - I had to bolt the mill to the base using the M12 bolts. Yes, different from the literature.

Not sure about the similarity to the 770.

(chair)What difference does it make what size the bolts are? Do they fit or not? If they fit, use them. If they don't fit, contact Tormach. How much simpler could it be.:bs:
You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.

What a silly response Steve, I'll assume you missed the main query point about the Base casting ( I only mentioned it 3 times....)?
Of course the bolt length doesn't make any difference - it was the mass, shape, & size of the casting I queried.

Gjvander - many thanks for confirming that.

For anyone who didn't get what I meant here is a picture of the *new* base casting/foot detail.

Your PCNC770 stand looks quite different than the earlier ones I've seen, Peter.

    See http://groklab.org/tormach/files/2011/03/IMG_0014.jpg for an example.

I have a Series 1 PCNC1100 and have been Jonesing on the tall riser blocks on the (apparantly earlier) 770 stands. It's hard for me to fully flush/sweep swarf out from under my 1100 with its short risers (more like the height of yours).

Maybe this also acccounts for the difference in stud/bolt length?

Oops, I should have read your original post a little closer, Peter. Anyway, another pic of the "tall riser" 770 stand is at http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/1462/standhm.jpg I wish the 1100 stand was more like this.
