Red face Taig Micromill 2000 and Sherline 4" rotary table with Mach 3

I am a newbie - please help. I have set all the motor tuning in Mach 3 as per my manual (step size of 8000) but the all the axis are moving the wrong amounts. They are out by a long way. If I ask it to move 80mm it moves 32mm. It does this will all three axis x,y,z. According to the manual all 3 axis should all have the same settings as per step size. I have used the calibration option under settings but this hasn't solved the problem either. Can someone please help me. Thanks

Are you using a Taig controller or something else to drive it? What happens if you change the steps/unit settings to 20,000?

Are you using a metric lead or ball screw or SAE? The formula would be steps per revolution ( of the stepper) X micro stepping value X the amount of turns of the lead / ball screw per your unit of measure.

Using a 1/4-20 as a lead screw for example takes 5 revolutions to move 1 inch. A stepper (generally 200 steps per revolution) and then the microstepping value (a G540 is set at 10x)
    So 5 X 200 X 10 = 10000 steps per inch.
A lazy man does it twice.
