    Hitachi X200 VFD Questoins

    Hey,

I just purchased a Hitachi VFD to go with my 3kw Chinese spindle. I went with the 10HP model which can run on 1 or 3 phase. The spindle is de-rated 50% since I am running a 4.3ish HP motor on single phase input.

Anyways, I set all my settings (well, maybe not all of them) and can get it to spin if I give it little help to get started. I can get it to spin either way. Without giving it a push start it will just sit and hum. Does anyone know what is going on? Hours of google turns up nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post your settings for the VFD.

    How fast does it spin?

The key parameters to look at are:

Base Frequency - probably either 300 or 400Hz basically your max speed
Run Frequency - set to your max for testing
Max Current - set to your spindles max current - a little safety buffer
Number of poles - again, match your spindle.
Ramp time - 5 seconds ought to do it.

As a total guess, your base and run frequencies might be set so low that your spindle won't turn.
