Depends. Hydraulic fittings, high pressure, hydraulic low pressure, npt threads? Removable or not? I use 569 for high pressure fittings. The other one suggested for air/npt fittings.

Thanks for the input. It is an air compressor with npt threads a two stage filter (pre and coalescing) and an automatic drain. So pneumatic running at 120 psi. Not real sure what you mean by non removable. Once the system is together it would only be taken apart for repairs and maintenance. On the 565 it says it is used only for inert fittings. I am using mostly brass. Should I be using galvanized fittings?

Why not just use teflon tape?

I'd just go to home depot and get rector seal for that application....much cheaper.

I generally like the 545 by far.

271 or 275 are for thread locking, not sealing.

There's also 565 which is thicker and messier. For pneumatic use 545 is quick and cleans up easy without the stick mess of 565.

Why not just use teflon tape?

Teflon tape is slow and doesn't seal anywhere as well as a liquid sealant. To me it also looks amateurish in this day and age.
Liquid sealants take 2-3 seconds to apply and are awesome if you are doing a lot of fittings.
