Anyone have a lead on a small (smaller than a one car garage) laser cutter?

Can have a bad control but a good laser. Can be ugly. Just needs to cut 20GA SS and be under 6K. I can retrofit. Can have obsolete motors and drivers.

In midwest preferred.

You're asking for a lot for $6k. You will need a laser with around 100W power to cut SS. You should also have some special beam delivery optics to give you a circularly polarized beam. Just that part, sans any mechanicals is bound to consume your entire budget. I think you might want to look into plasma cutting rather than laser. You could build a very nice plasma machine for the same price.

laser will be too expensive.... plasma will be better, if you trust Chinese one, will be under $6000.

plasma would be more what you want and would do a fantastic job. Perfectly in your budget as well.
