    Hey Hoss,

I have a question about your column and head spacers. Did you ever find a T bolt to replace the ones that hold the head onto the Z slide? I just bought the steel to make my spacers and I'll be ordering the hardware soon.

Thanks for the offer on the anti-vibe doohickys. I've been wanting one for a while. I just kept forgetting to ask if you had any.

The mcmaster t-bolt #90109A644 should be pretty close.
No problem, just put one in an envelope for you.

Ordered a new vise from Grizzly 2 days ago and it showed up already.
This is a multipurpose vise I'm really fond of, have a big one in the basement.

Also started on the chip pan, nice to have the room now to work on something like this.
Letting the glue dry on the floor so it stays fairly flat.

If you print a pair, remember to leave a little circle indent where you can press a couple of neo-d magnets into!

Hoss, some time ago you printed covers for 570oz steppers, do you still make them? I'm interested in a set of 3 for my BF20 because I'm going to use flood and need to make things waterproof.

Good thinking, I'll do that too.

Well you really wouldn't need one on the Z, would be some kind of flood to get that motor wet.
I have a couple spares but it would cost an arm and a leg to ship to Estonia.

I just installed my belt drive for my PM20 using Hoss's plans. Overall things have gone together pretty good. I am using a Nordic Track motor like the one Hoss specifies in the plans.

I am using the 2 step vbelt pulleys from the plans. The tiny 8-32 set screws used to attach it to the shaft seem like they might not be up to the task of holding all that torque. I ground some small little flats in the shaft of the Nordic Track but I am wondering if that's enough.

I did some quick tests no load up to 3500rpm and got the new bearings broken in some. I loaded an endmill and trouble shooted some other issues (spindle was spinning CCW when it was supposed to be CW, swapped motor wires and its good). I was trying to calibrate my speed of the spindle to the speed in Mach 3 and noticed the motor pulley had come loose. I did not lock tight the set screws which probably would help. Has anyone tried cutting a keyway into the motor shaft? I would feel better if it had a key. Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Hoss was all your hogging videos in steel and aluminum done with just the set screws? If so I guess I needed worry and just loctite those suckers in there and get back to making chips.

Also looks like I need to 3d print one of those vibration isolators because I am getting some rattling type noise that I think they are designed to solve.

Yes I ground a flat on the motor shaft and loctited the set screws, never came loose on me.

    ahaidet,
I am about to attempt broaching a keyway into my pulley. I am using an 1100watt motor with what appears to be a 3/16" keyway.
My plan is to sharpen a 3/16" lathe tool and scrape it. Should be fun.
Using this technique or very similar.

The mill can be used in cnc mode to broach the pulley too.

It's quick and easy to broach with a lathe too.

If I knew how to hand code, Hoss' way would be great. Though I can't imagine doing it any faster than this. Hardly any set up. Easier than writing the code or centering the part.

Thanks, horrible planning on my part (no planning actually, imagine that?). I had always seen people scraping, just never tried it. Besides the turning the handle the wrong way and then over compensating in the beginning of the video, it works very well and takes much less effort than I estimated. Splined shafts or bores would be easy enough too.
