Ahh, got it. What's chassis, though? Also, do I need specific resistors or any 2.8k and 3.5k resistors will do?

Chassis is basically the frame of the equipment that is also grounded to the Power Supply ground.

    1/4 watt axial lead resistors.

    G540 Motor Connection Polarity

Does the polarity of the connections going to the steppers matter as long as they're wired to the correct coil? I've seen multiple diagram's, even from the same source that seem to contradict. Here are some examples. That Gecko manual does not identify polarity on the pins, just which are A or B wires.

Polarity does matter hence the pairs of wires being marked A+, A-, B+, B- etc.

Great ... now which pins, 6-9 are + and which are - on the G540 DB-9? Does A and /A or B and /B mean something to you?

According to the G540Wiring.pdf the pinouts are

    A+ 9
    A- 8
    B+ 7
    B- 6

Note that the schematic for the Keiling steppers have the A and B coils drawn opposite from those on the G540 schematic. The A and B positions are reversed.

Exactly. The first 2 docs I attached were both from Keling and show

    A+ 9
    A- 8
    B+ 7
    B- 6

However if you look at post #4, their own doc shows another motor model wired reversed. The 3rd doc I attached from Homann shows them reverse as well from the first 2. I'm not feeling totally confident here and the manual from Gecko directly doesn't say + or - just A and B.

I think Homann's got it backwards. /A and /B are the same as A- and B-
