So I have a mill that has been lying around for years, its a 1997 160MC DOS based Open System It I replaced the dead batteries in the PC and the HSSB and it tries the boot up but just up in DOS Com error between the HSSB and PC, Fiber optic cable seems ok but it says missing file please install MMCSYS.EXE. Fanuc don't seem to be any help, any ideas would be a shame to scrap the machine it's an Okada Graphite mill 25000rpm.

Hi dresda
your Hard disk is not booting up or is faulty
this is a windows NT system
you need to see if your Hard disk is working
the file the system is looking for should be in the root dir of the HDD

Hey the BlackWatch, My machine is in DOS, i think some others come in windows 95/NT so when I first start it up it hangs up passing the hard drive test and sits there with the curser flashing then If I pull the fibre optic cable from the back of the CRT and that goes directly to the HSSB board I get a com error and it says press any key and when I do that the PC side boots up so I can see the position screen offsets etc, looks a bit like Fanuc but it's not, If I go to diagnostics the alarm will be displayed saying missing file please install MMCSYS.exe. Fanuc now get back to me and say I need MDI drive & Library disk but they would have to get it from Japan because they don't have the licence to make a copy for $1500. US and there guy would have to install it, give me a break.
