Not another single phase 3 phase question......

    Guys,

For the purpose of my business, I will need a CNC that can cut full 8x4 sheets

I have been looking at the blue elephant 1325 with a 3KW spindle rated at 3 phase. I understand that there is a VFD fitted in the control box. If these VFDs take single phase and convert it to three phase, for what reason does the machine need 3 phase? Possibly the axis motors although I don't think this particular model comes with servo motors. It does not have a vacuum bed or extraction.

This poses a challenge as I only have single phase at my house.

I have done lots or reading around the subject but just not grasping the theory behind it.

Looking for some advice. Have done lots of reading about static, rotary phase converters.

    TIA

    Hi,

If these VFDs take single phase and convert it to three phase,
That is too simplistic. Yes, a VFD can take single phase input and then generate three phase for an induction motor, but you'd be extremely disappointed if you expect it to drive some regular three phase load.
The output of the VFD is sinusoidally PMW modulated DC, and it does after a fashion replicate three phase.

The spindle is almost certainly a three phase asynchronous spindle and speed control is gained by applying a 'varying frequency three phase', ie the output of the VFD.

It looks to me as though they offer at least some machines that are capable of utilizing single phase 220/240v if thats what you want:

    Working voltage 220V 1PH/3PH 50HZ/60HZ 380V 3PH 50HZ/ 60HZ

I suggest clarifying your electrical requirements with Blue Elephant.

3 phase as more efficient than single phase and one still wants a soft start and control RPM that is when VFD comes to play.
You can request a single phase setup if you don’t have 3 phase but it cost you more to operate as you have to derate horsepower of the motors.

from cnc choice to think .
1325 3kw spindle ,stepper motor ,dsp etc 220v1 phase ok .
3kw dust collector ,220v1 phase ok.

but if you only have 220v1 phase , there is only 2.2kw vacuum pump can work with 220v1 . 5.5kw 7.5kw vacuum pump need 3 phase power .
You can also add one pcs roller hold on table to hold wood .

Roller hold wood without vacuum pump details show on ATC cnc router
