Hi there,

I have a 150 watt laser that i am having a tough time getting a good result when I try and scan/etch. I have played with the speed and power but wondering if I am missing something somewhere else in the settings? I am using engraving stock intended for laser engraving but when I etch thru the top colour coat, it is staining or remelting the top colour on the the white core....would love to get to figured out. I have a large job to quote....

Great...thank you! I'll try decreasing power more and up the air flow thru the tip.

Take some of the scrap material that you now have from it not working right and start with it set at 8-15% power. Even less if necessary. Observe how it works away the material. IF you use too little power, you can either make a second pass or then put in other material and raise the setting of the power. Also you will be able to run the head slower at lower power, only 200 to 400 mm or at under half speed if you can set it by percentage of full speed.

The power and velocity of the head will have the largest bearing as power goes up you will notice the etching getting more like cutting. IT gets more choppy than an etch. You have exceeded the middle range of power and velocity where the action performs in the most proper manner.

Aside from all the other settings. Change settings one area at a time or you won't know which change is having the best or worst effect...

Hi friend,

If your mainly work for engraving, better use small power tube 50W/60W, these small power tube laser beam small and thin, better for engraving. If mainly for cutting, use big power tube 100W 120W 150W/\. Another best way, use double heads laser machine, with two tube, two laser heads, one is big power, another is small power tube.

Try to set your min power as 3% and max power as 6%. Speed 500
