    retrofit tool changer to TM-1?

Can a tool changer be retrofitted to a 2003 TM-1? I'm looking at a used TM-1 without a tool changer thats a pretty good price, but I'd like a tool changer. I called Haas and someone there told me they could not be retrofitted, but the seller tells me he thinks the tool changer can be added. Anybody have any experience with this issue?

    Thanks in advance,

Did you call HAAS direct or the HFO. I'd call HAAS direct.
I'll bet what HAAS wants to charge for the software upgrade plus the kit will border on crazy. The price you see online is for the option factory installed.
    Just my $0.02.

Be sure your refering to the TM-1 and Not the TL1

The TL1 was not retorfittable withthe "Turret Changer once it left the factory until 2006 Do to a Engineering change in its design.

The new TL1's can be retrofitted in the field now with a turret changer.

The 06 Tm1 can be as well.

I purchased my TM-1 new in 2003 and you could get it with or with out, the cost difference to add it later was like $900, if I recall correctly, which is a real indicate that it could be added at a later date. I had it installed with purchase, it was real pricey $5900 ??? and worth every penny thats for sure. To me, it seems very unlikely they would have a different casting since there is a lot of money to be made in retro-fits.

I just looked and there are four bolts and two locater pins on the top/rear of the vertical casting that hold the entire assembly in place.

What I heard is that the TM series (TM-1 and TM-2) no longer can be feild upgraded with tool changers. They must be ordered with them from the factory. Not sure what the reason is. Check with your HFO parts dept. to see if you can still order them.
