Regrind taper on Cat 40 tools

We are trading our Haas HS1-RP for a Haas EC-400 with probe and full fourth axis. I am wondering if we can have the tapers on the Cat 40 tools off the HS1 reground. I know it would change the gage length. We never put old tools in a new spindle. But we have a lot to tools for the HS1. Other wise we will buy a new tool package.

If anyone needs a HS1-RP. I think the HFO would be glad to deal on it.

Why wouldn't you use the tooling you have without regrinding. Shops move tools around to different machines all the time? I would think that regrinding would cause more problems than just using the tool holders unless they are spalled or warn out.

Yes I'd also have to wonder at regrinding the tapers and getting them perfectly concentric with the tool holding bore.

I suppose that the original manufacturer has a perfect spindle to hold the taper shank while the working end of the toolholder is finish ground. But working in reverse would be an expensive PITA.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.
