    Re-establishing CS position?

    Currently working on a 1987 Fadal VMC40 ("2216") with a CNC88 control. I'm used to working on a late 90's 3016L with the 88HS.

On this VMC40, there's a Cold Start location tag on the X-axis, but I'll be damned if I can see one on Y and Z. There's what looks like a hand-made mark for Y-axis location but I'm wary of it.

Is there a way of re-establishing where the cold start position should be? I had been playing with different Z.0 positions to get the TC to work.. and it seemed no matter where I told the machine "0" was, I'd always have +4" of Z travel. Like it was hitting a software limit, rather than a physical limit switch.

    Thanks!

    cs marker

You are right about the software limit. There are no limit switches on Fadals.
This is how to set the cs on Z
    - bring z close to atc zero
    - put a tool in and activate m19 orientation
    -hit the jog button
-manually swing the atc to the extend position and see if the tool and atc turret line up
    - if not, jog z up or down until atc lines up
    - scribe or mark a line
-hit jog again to send atc home
    - hit cs now- if Z jumps off your mark, you have to turn the resolver in the servo

    for Y
-cs mark is in th center of the travel
