I have 2 bridgeport series 1 2hp variable speed mills in my shop they were getting loud and one would not spin faster than around 200 rpms before it hit the speed change plate. so repaired the one that was just loud first and it came out great. Then i went to repair the other one while apart I located why it was hitting the plate, finished the repair and made the adjustments. After installation and i run quiter and went to around 370 rpms but still grinds the plate, excpet now it also grinds the plate on the low end at around 110 rpms. If I use the plate adjuster screw if front of the motor it helps one but makes the other end worse. The chain on the variable pulley seems very loose to me as well I dont know if that has anything to do with the problem it just seems off.
