    Opening files in V25

Hi, There might be a thread answering this question, but I've received SLDPRT files in the past that I can open, but not now. Any suggestions. I'd really rather not post the file here.
    Thanks

Ask them to send it in a STEP file, you should be able to open that, or if you have another application that can open SLDPRT you could save it out as a STEP yourself.

I've opened the files with eDrawings just now. Looking to see if I can convert to step files now.

There is something called a Solidworks Document manager or something like that. When my customer moved up to new versions of SW I would often have difficulty opening them in older versions of BobCAD. If I recall correctly all I had to do was find the new SW document manager and replace the one on my computer.

Where to get it, I can't recall.

P.S. The file is called swdocumentmgr.dll Muddle around with it at your own risk. Mine shows that it was updated 01/31/2015, the same day I moved to SW 2015. FYI

Thanks for the replies. Here is a screenshot in eDrawings. I can't figure out where the "file>save as" is

Just click the e-drawings logo in the upper left corner to get to the File ---> Save As utility.

You will not find a suitable format, eDrawings will not convert file formats.

SBC you are correct. No way to convert the file. My son was able to open the sldprt file with no problem in his V27. Maybe I have to reload V25. Who knows. Not worth wasting any more time with it. Thanks for your help.

You will continue to have problems with SW 2015 files unless you can find a way to update the .dll I was referring to.

See this thread for more info. It worked for me at the time.

Lol, it will make you pull your hair out the first time it happens to you. Glad it worked, just passing the knowledge along. I wouldn't have had a clue if it weren't for some of the other members here.

Where do I get the updated swdocumentmgr.dll from?

I updated my solidworks to 2015 on Firday (3/27/15) but my swdocumentmgr.dll file has a date of 3/6/15

If you have Solidworks updated than you will have the most up to date version of swdocumentmgr.dll

Only the BobCAD users who do not have SW should have this issue.
