    Observed Feeds and Speeds

    Just in case anyone is interested I will log my actual speeds & feeds.
    The figures are based on my 1.5 horsepower 240 volt single phase mill/drill.
    I don't push my machine but alter the feed until chatter is excessive then back off to limit said chatter.
    I don't recommend any one else attemp these settings this is more for general information.

    I will start with a corner rounding router bit not designed for milling but seems to work okay.
    Rpm 1600
    Feed rate 20mm/m
    Coolant none
    Cut full cut one pass
    Diametre 22mm
    Material Aluminium 6060 T5

    Yes this should have been 20mm/m, it took 36 seconds to cut 12mm of 6060.
    The problem is the material is cantilevering up so far to clear the vice that the chatter prevents a faster feed.
