When CAPPS generates code to mill this profile it starts at Y2.220, which machine is not capable.+- 2.0 in Y axis.it also spends a lot of cycle time cutting air if programmed in XC output.is there some way to have CAPPS approach closer to material? I'm using 3/4 endmill material is 17-4 S.S.

Ive had CAPPS do some questionable stuff to me on our NL2500. I found a lot of times that I would have to go through it and clean up the program, a little bit of hand programming because there were a few instances were the tool would have crashed into the material because of the start point the tool would rapid to.

There is like 3 pages of caps parameters, and you should have gotten a manual. The factory defaults are "safe" and not optimized at all. Once you get it dialed in to your liking, caps can be useful, but like everything else, the machines ship with basic caps functions, dxf import and other cool functions are options, and by the time you buy them, you could get a decent cam package.
