    Newbie needs help

    Greetings,

I am a retiree in need of help. I built a home generated cnc router. I have set the machine up with Mach2 controller running off a "Smoothstepper". May problem is, after I built the machine and was running gcode tests from the Mach2 writing wizard, what I input does not output! A simple "O" in Bauhaus font comes out in two disjointed pieces. The solution is over my head, and I am looking for anyone who would generously offer a fix for my problem. Thanks in advance for all that would contribute an input! I am attaching a picture of the exact output from the "O" gcode.

There are lots of things that could be the matter - it could be a problem with your machine, with the Smoothstepper, with Mach or its "writing wizard". Have you tried doing anything else with your machine? If you jog the axes, do they all go in the right directions? If you give it MDI commands, are they executed correctly?
