Question for the advanced cad guys ladies? Is there any benefits to learning newer Mascam compared to version 9. ? It seems quite capable to myself and shops Ive worked in still use it? I am trying to make 2 d stuff currently and engraving some aluminium. Im a home shop fellow fiddling around (older ) Thanx Mike

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Yes the new version has some great features. Unless you are rich and can afford to upgrade, ask yourself does V9 still do what i want? Can it spit out code that makes your machine go? It seems like you answered your own question. Just my opinion from another old fiddler!!

I also agree with wudbutcher. The latest is the greatest but the oldere versions will still do the job.

Thanx I had kind of figure this out Guys ha ha . But the question I had asked regarding the newer x 5 ? Mastercam was does it have advantages over 9 version? Is it easier to operate? Stuff like that .Like engraving programming on x versions easier quicker than version 9. I am fortunate to have acess to either of them Thanx

It will probably be easier to get technical assistance on X5 vs 9.

The newer versions are much more user friendly. If you're good at 9, you'll love X5. Geometry, construction planes, the icons....yes use the newer version.
