    New to thread milling

    Can anyone recommend a good tool to thread mill a 1 1/4-7 thread in 316ss 2.5 inches deep?

    Vargus do a good range of Thread Mills (Vargus Thread Turning, Thread Milling & Deburring Tools) but at that depth, you probably want to use a single point tool with an insert .Sandvik or Kennametal have tools available. Also, use a large number of small infeeds, otherwise the threadmill will push off at the bottom of the thread, and it will be tapered. Use climb milling for best results. Hope this helps

    if you are going deep get a multitooth so you do not have to take so many passes. mastercam supports this well.inserted would be good from those manufactures and lets say at least 5 to 7 active teeth.
