How's it going guys (and gals) I have used this site from time to time for research so why not join the party offically.

My name is Thomas, from north west Indiana, though I work in Chicago. I have been a machinist for 15 years, the vast majority of those on manual machines. I got into CNC machining a few years back, though I run both manual and CNC mills all day, every day. We are a non production, mostly 1-6pc job, machine and fab shop.

We have two machinists. One runs the lathes, the other (me) runs the mills. Currently we have two tree mills, both bridgeports, a Chevalier VMC CNC dynapath 30 controlled, a Clausing B1050 VMC CNC dynapath delta 50 controlled, a vertical mill and a boring mill. All CAD work I do on AutoCad, programming is EZ-CAM.

Though we work with almost every steel and alloy, the vast majority of machining I do is A2 tool steel.
