    Post Mitts Meldus 330 Controler

My M code list for this machine says M16 slow tool change.
Never thought I would want this but I have a 32 LB tool and it is scary to watch tool change.
Tried the m16 but nothing happend, just sits there.
I called mits but got the major cost speach.
I know from fanuc and yasnac experiance that a lot of options are just a parameter change. Is this one of them?Does anyone know
    the magic number?

    Hank,

    Some questions:

Does the screen come up when the machine is powered on?

If not, you probably need to replace the control's battery.

Do you have the Instruction Manual for this control?

This manual has the parameter list, and is a big help. If you don't have it, Mitsubishi has most of their manuals available in PDF. The one you need is this:

    http://www.meau.com/Files/BNP-A2940.PDF

    Is this machine a retrofit?

When the control is shipped, it comes with a folder that has a hard copy of the parameter settings. Look around and see if you can find this folder.

    Is the PLC intact?

The PLC is normally written to EPROM, so you shouldn't lose it. You can check it on the screen by pressing the F0 key. If the onboard editor is enabled you will get a new screen, otherwise the screen goes blank when you hit this key. If it's not enabled, I can tell you how to enable it.

    That should be a start.

    Regards,
    Scott

Metlhead, Thanks a bunch for your help.

Let me bring you up to where I am with this mess.

I purchased a Cincinnati Milacron 10VC-2000 vertical machining center. (HUGE!!!) It had been retrofitted with Mitsubishi controls back in 1996. It did not come with any documentation at all! I have down loaded all the manuals from Mitsubishi, including the one you mentioned.(the tool changer is not being used)

When I finally had it set up in my shop it worked fine.
Then, we were working on the Shop electrical one day, and left the power off...for way too long! (weeks) The onboard computer battery went dead, and so went the plc program and all parameter settings. It was not equiped with the eprom card, (M411) but it used a different card (M942) that the plc program was written to. When the power went, so did the program. The guys at Mitsubishi have been a help but they are into the new stuff and as the m330 is now about 10 years old, they have to really stretch to help.

I was thinking if there was someone out there that had a similar system that they would be able to offer up a copy of their current parameters and plc program. And yes it is worth paying for.

I am currently signed up to have a specialist come and reset the controls but even he needs a place to start.

Can you tell me how to enable the PLC. This would be a good step to take. Yes, the screen does come up blank.

    Thanks, Hank

    Hank,

Setting up the parameters from scratch isn't too terrible, but it sounds like you are going to have to have someone write a new PLC program too.

Maybe you'll get lucky and the PLC will still be there.

To enable the PLC onboard, you need to go into the machine parameters:

    Press the DIAGN key.
    Press the PLC I/F softkey.
    Type this in:
    (1001)( )(M)
    Press "Input"

Then go to the Parameter screen. The machine parameters should be enabled.

BTW, to switch back to user parameters, enter (1001)( )(U) on the PLC I/F screen instead.

Press the "MENU" softkey and then the "BIT-SEL" softkey.

You need to set bit select parameter 51 to "00000001"

After setting, you should be able to press the "F0" key. When the onboard is enabled, you will see a message and some softkeys.

    Hope this helps,
    Scott
