I recently picked up a used Mazak DT20 on auction for a very good price. The machine was used to cut abrasive materials and was never run wet.
Should i need to replace ball screws and linear ways, what kind $$ should I prepare myself for?
What else might need replacement, and how far would that go to restore accuracy and repeat-ability?
The machine would mostly be used for production parts and not super critical stuff, That said, i also don't want to saddle up a PITA machine.

The alternative would be to strip and sell the electronics as spares: 2x 20HP spindle motors and drives, 4x axis servo's and drives, control (Mazatrol 640T), 2x tool eyes,
2x power chucks (8" Kitagawa) and drawbar cylinders, Hydraulics and lubrication.

What would the machine be worth as parts and would you keep or sell?
Does anyone have experience with the Mazak machines (and particularly the DT20's)? Are they affordable to run and maintain?

Regards
Pieter
