Hi all,
I am trying to use the m198 function to call a subprogram from a network drive, does anyone know if this is possible? If so, how can this be accomplished?
Possible, but there is a a parameter stating "M198 call file name OR file number" (or something like that) Find & Change to fit your needs:-)
I was told this looks to the memory card slot for the program, is this true, or does this look at the specified I\O channel?
M198 call dataserver, PCMCIA card, network etc. As you said; according to settings I/O channel. Basically it means call pgm outside of NC memory.
that's how I understood what the book says, but having that setup to my dataserver dnc software, i stage a program for download, then from memory I can read it, or from tape mode, i can drip feed it. What I am trying to do is set this up through memory mode to call and read the program that I have setup in dnc, that being said, is this not recognizing the file because it is staged for download?, I guess what I am asking is if I need to have a folder dedicated to this port and not stage it through my dnc software. Let me know if this makes sense to you.
Thanks
Bill
Hmm. I am not sure I understand 100%, but as far as I know the external unit must be set up more or less like an additional disk drive. I do not think you can do this wothout setting up IP adress & folder path for external M198 to work in a network.
