    Lithophanes with bobart

Has anyone done any lithophanes using Bobart/V23. I am working on a wedding present for my cousin's wedding and can't seem to get it right. I am looking for some pointers.

    Thanks,
    Zach

It is very easy to do. Create your BobART surfaces as a negative and generate your tool path!

That last one I did was small 1.5 " Radius and a put a picture of a dog in it. It came out really nice and was easy to do.

The only tricky thing I had to do was move the origin of the BobART stock so that the dog was in the center of the circle.

I cut it out of wax, but I understand corian is a better material to use. I used an 1/8 Ball mill and stepped over .03125 with a planner tool path.

    It worked great!

Please let me know what issues you are having....

    Allen123,

Has there been any updates to v23 that I may have missed. I tried to open the file you sent to take a look at it and I got an error. It said the file was created with a newer version. I looked on the Bobcad's website but couldn't find any updates.

    Thanks,

I got the update and was able to open your file. The settings seem pretty similar to mine. I used a 45 degree bit and the details did not come out as good as I would like. I have a 30 degree bit with a .030 tip and a 1/8 ball nose ordered. I am going to try this again when I get the new bits. I will update my progress.

    Thanks again for the info.

I finally got a chance to post some pictures of the finished lithophane.

Let me know what you think. This was my first and I think it came out pretty good.
