    Help With Safety Zones

I am new to Mastercam and am teaching myself. I am the only one in our school who apparently is learning how to do it. My question is on setting a safety zone, when I try and set a safety zone it places it on the origin (0, 0, 0) and I am not able to move it where I want. If you could please help me and refer me to the best place to learn more about the program I would appreciate it. I am under the gun to crank out parts for our FSAE car. I am also looking for reliable places to find cutting speeds and max step-downs and such. We mainly use aluminum. Also if someone else has answered this question please point me to it.

    Thanks for you time

What sort of machine are you programming for ?

You may not actually need to use it at this early stage.

The safety zone is really only needed for 4-5 axis milling work, or for a lathe with C/Y axis machining.
    - not needed for basic 3 axis milling work, as the Verify usually picks up the collision with stock if your settings ( clearance/retract) are correct.

    Re: Help With Safety Zones

We have a Haas Mini Mill 3 axis and I am using Mastercam X4. I guess the main problem is that on rough contours the end mill is going to deep and is very close or is hitting the vice. I can't really run it unless I know it won't hit. So is their a way to set the depth of a rough contour. Also is their an easy way to get the DXF file to scale to the same size as the STEP file? It always comes in way to big and takes a while to scale down perfectly.
