    Haas DT-1 Clearance issues

    Hi,

My company is looking into purchasing a DT-1. Our space is located on the 5th floor of an old factory. The DT-1 is massive (and heavy) and we don't have the height clearance to get it into the space (94" header into the elevator). Does anyone have experience with disassembling / reassembling one of these guys? Obviously we'll have the Haas mechanics come and do it, but I'm wondering if anyone has run into issues with this, or if there's something I'm missing to gain a few extra inches. It looks like without removing the tool changer, there's no way.... Dimensions attached.

Thanks in advance for the thoughts!

I don't think the machines can be disassembled very far, not even by Haas techs. It may be possible to remove some of the enclosure if you need to gain a few inches. Have you double checked the weight limits of your elevator? You need some margin there too, particularly if it is a rental unit. If you break the elevator, you may be liable for the damage which could be substantial.

I suggest talking to riggers about using a crane to put the machine in through a window.
