    g540 trim pot ??

    so my g540 is up and running a pair of 387 steppers at 42v they seem smooth but what is that trim pot for in the instructions said it was for motor smoothness but no further info on how to adjust it if at all?

    Chris,

    Here is a little more information.

    See attached jpg's for more detail.

    The trimpot adjusts the motor for the smoothest possible low-speed operation.

    Set the motor speed to about 1/4 revolution per second, then turn the trimpot with a insulated screw driver until a distinct null is noted in the motor’s vibration.

    This will result in the most even microstep placement for a given motor and power supply voltage.
