    G17 to G18 Comp issues

    G17 to G18

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm running a Vertical Grinder with a Fanuc control. I need to dress my wheel every cycle. I'm dressing a sperical radius in G18 (X & Z). My dillemma is this: How do I use cutter compensation in G17 to shift over for my wheel diameter and then go to G18 to dress the radius? If I leave Comp. on I get a plane change CRC error. If I shut Comp off then the wheel shifts back over to the "un-compensated" location.

My goal is to have the dress code at the end of each cycle so I don't have to manually change my "x" value every cycle.

    Help

Is there a way to incremental increase a value each cycle ex: G1 G91 X.002+.002
This would need to go to .004 for the next cycle, .006 the next, and so on

I think you can do this with a G10 command in a subroutine.

    G10 L2 P1 G91 X0.002 would increment the X location of G54 +0.002 every time the subroutine is called.

Look for the thread about Real World Use of G10.

    That Would Work!

I was so caught up in thinking how I could use the G10 for my diameter offset of my tool for comp (and getting it to work) that I didn't even think of using it for my fixture location. Good Catch! thanks Geof
