I just did my first tests with a 80 watt CO2 laser cutter (self built) and white sand.
The results can be seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN0lS5CSkmk

First interesting post for many months.
My advices:
Dont waist your time with the sand.
1. Your laser is not strong enough.
2. RF laseers are better because of pulsed working
3. Flying optics is not a way. You need galvo head.
So you better go with special plastics for laser sintering but without galvos you will not reach real success.
