Can anyone tell me the Voltage input for step inputs? at the connector? I have no indexer and am trying to run the pulse at 5V no luck. Where might I find a schematic for this

Are you sure it has step inputs
Most servo amps need +/- 10v

Yes it is step and direction. It has an internal oscillator that you can hook up the step input to and the drive works fine. I can't however determine the voltage I don't have a scope. I am trying to run it from Mach2, with a soundlogid reakkout board.=b step and direction 5V setting on the step. I have tested the PC side and the sound logic breakout board with another (PacSci) drive that takes a 5V step input and it works fine. So I know the setup is good. I just cant get the SD3 to respond to the 5V. I have a feeling that it needs 12v on the input and the drive is taking that to 5V TLL level on the board. I am just not sure. Unfortunately I am not an electrical engineer, and can't get to board level with my current understanding. The book states the indexer is sending 12V. I dont have the indexer board, and can't find one

Hi Ken,

Maybe I can help. I use the Parker Digiplan PK2 drives on my mini-lathe. They need a 12v signal to work. You can take the 5v up to 12v with a 3.3k resistor and a 2N3904 Transistor on each line. I attached a diagram from my manual, hope it shows up. I can't say that this will work for yours, but it sounds like it will.

You can use one of the charge pump RS-232 trancievers, this will get you to ~10 volts but not 12
The easiest way would be a couple of BJTs and a 12 volt source.

If its to drive the SD3 all you need is an open collector drive as the SD3 has pullups to +12V
You can use discrete transistor or a 7406 or uln2803

HUH! The parker manual for the digiplan sd3 says that the step voltage is 5V and must be greater than >3 and <8 VDC..
