Daewoo 4020 Mill Spindle Belt Breaking

I have a Daewoo SMV 4020 That keeps breaking the spindle belt. We purchased this machine in the fall of 2005 new, and have replaced the belt in 8/07 and 12/08. It just broke again. There is only one manufacturer for this belt, it is a Goodyear W-800. It is a 12,000 RPM spindle, and we have only ever run aluminum on this machine. No spindle loads.

It is a wide timing belt, but instead of having straight grooves, they are VEE shaped and the belt only fits in one way.

Anyone else having belt breakage problems?

leave the belt a bit more slack, propebly over streched/tightend
or the pulley's arn't alinged ok.

Just got feedback form Goodyear who makes the belt. It seems the instructions for figuring out the belt tension were incorrect for this application.
It needs to be much tighter. Glad we contacted Goodyear’s tech department after Daewoo had no answers. After 3 belts at $600.00 plus per install.

ok, good to know, normally you see overtightent a belts
cause to generate a lot of heat and wear.
