Hennig in Rockford IL made them for Okuma at one time.

I have 2 hennig conveyors. Okuma cadet and LB35. I am wondering who was the genius at hennig that decided to make the discharge end at the top smaller then the bottom and also have bolts sticking thru. If you are machine material that give you very stringy chips they get compressed at the top and hung up on the bolts that stick thru. It is apparent they were an engineer and not a machinst.
We could start a new thread and fill up the whole internet with only info on machine design faults
Engineer-designed products that have design issues are pretty common in most machines. Even the best machines have some design quirks.
The best idea would be to have input from machinists with advanced knowledge on machine tool operation and advanced CNC programming. That is, people with engineering knowledge, hands-on knowledge and real world technical knowledge and the ability to adapt and learn on-the-fly. In reality that does not happen, possibly because those kinds of people are quite rare. I only know one such person
On my twin turret Okuma the front of the rear turret (the side facing the spindle center) will hit the square chuck housing if using a small boring bar in a small bore. The square housing is way too big for what it does (which is basically to stop swarf getting into the bedways and headstock). They just didn't do enough research and development. It's all too common, unfortunately.
