    Chinese steppers & Xylotex

I've seen quite a few people here use the 276OZ-IN steppers available from xylotex, hobbycnc, automationdirect and so on. I've added a pic to show which type I mean. They are 2.8A/phase. Xylotex drivers give 2.5A max.

I'm thinking of buying these but have a few questions:

-Does anyone here use a xylotex board at 2.5A continuously? If so, does it hold up? Cooling required?

-How are these steppers when compared to the more expensive ones like vexta? Are they really as strong as they say?

    thanks,
    John

I believe that anything over 2A, you MUST have a fan blowing on the heatsinks. But as long as you keep the fan on, and it's mounted in a well ventilated enclosure, it should run fine at 2.5A.

I can't make a comparison with other motors,,, But I am using those motors from automation direct (nice price!) with a Xylotex board, and yes you have to have a fan. The drivers will shut down if they get to warm. My setup has run for over 20 hours at a time without a hitch.

Thanks guys, I'm going to buy them.

Mac, do you run them at 2.5A setting or a bit "on the safe side", like 2.2A?
