M100/M101 are generic M codes in LinuxCNC, with user specified functionality. For the USB I/O board, M64 P1 and M64 P0 would be used to turn on/off an output. You could use it for a DIY drawbar if you wanted.

I understand that the USB I/O board could be used to activate a PDB. My question was: "Is additional hardware required to activate the Tormach PDB on a machine without the Tormach ATC installed?".

M100/M101 needs to activate a relay to fire the PDB. Whether the relay is on the USB I/O board or an ice cube doesn't matter.

And a solenoid that the relay is wired to. I think tormach uses a 5 port/2 way solenoid.

    kstrauss,
I believe you will need to USB I/O board. AFAIK there are no I/O ports in the controller that can be controlled using custom macros.

Thanks! That was my assumption but I just wanted to be certain that I had not missed something.
